Their GOP chairmen called the election for McCain with over 12% of the vote uncounted and less than a 2% spread between the top two candidates.

One must wonder, what was the reason for making that call.

I guess Mike is sending lawyers to investigate that one. I can't blame him. It looks fishy. Particular attention will probably be paid to where the 12% uncounted votes were from.

Mike isn't trying to make a stink, he just wants to be sure that the people are getting their fair representation.

Maybe Ron Paul would have won that vote had it been counted.

What's important isn't whether Mike won or lost this vote...it's only important that the voice of the people is heard. That's Mikes values as he has amply demonstrated.

He ran a clean campaign by defending McCain repeatedly when he was unfairly attacked and not attacking back against Romney when he was attacked.

It's reasonable for him to expect a fair campaign for him until the last vote is counted.

Two stories, same event, very different coverage.

Coverage of Mikes CPAC speach:
Fox News

So as he stepped up to the podium today, the lingering question , hovering above the crowd, was could he do it?

If the loud audience reaction is an accurate indicator, then yes, Huckabee delivered today.

Hitting his mark, he emphasized the issues that resonated well with the several hundred cheering conservatives in the room:

Pro-traditional marriage, pro-life stance, border security, all Republican platform benchmarks, and with Huckabee’s argument for each, the audience roared with approval, and regular standing ovations.

Then there is CNN

There was no line to get in to Mike Huckabee’s speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference this morning – an event that featured none of the chaotic scenes that greeted his GOP rivals earlier in the week.

There was a group of sign-waving supporters in the lobby of the hotel where the forum is being held, but no crowds of campaign workers just outside the ballroom where he spoke pressing attendees to support the former Arkansas governor in the conference’s presidential straw poll — just three bleary-eyed young volunteers.

Rows of empty seats dotted the ballroom long after his speech began; the standing ovations only roused about half the audience from their seats.

It could have been the 9 a.m. Saturday time slot, a low-profile scheduling choice two days after the rest of the Republican presidential field addressed the conference.

It could have been the fact that Huckabee — despite his sentimental favorite status among social conservatives in attendance here — has, like John McCain, never been completely embraced by a significant bloc of the CPAC crowd. It means that there is a fairly decent chance that McCain has a fight on his hands with the upcoming states.

McCains greatest asset has been the fact that the conservative vote was split between Thompson, Huckabee, and Romney.

Now the question to be asked is will the people of the upcoming states fall for the media that says McCain has it all wrapped up or will they vote their hearts and minds.

Who knows, but I do know that if Romney hadn't been in the race Tuesday, McCain would be far behind Huckabee.

It may just be that those 5 little stones in his pocket make all the difference in the world. In fact it may just come down to one little state that ends up being the difference. I really did. It's a shame he didn't.

Do you know what I saw? I saw Christians disagreeing with Christians about who is best to lead this country.

God is the only kingmaker that matters. We know Mike is the best man for the job because he is the only one that isn't ashamed of God in those top tier candidates. He went boldly and said GOD created. He went boldly and said the Bible is true. He went boldly and said the constitution is easier to change than the unfailing word of God.

What do we as Christians give a man that says what we know to be true with boldness? Nothing. We turn our backs and split our voices.

Fred was completely right when he said this is a battle for the heart and soul of the GOP. Does the GOP stand for God's Only Party or Godless Other Party.

McCain and Thompson don't even attend church yet a decent percentage of born again Bible believing Christians are throwing support behind them. Why?

Because there "shouldn't be a religious test for President". Who says? The founding fathers? Only if you completely misunderstand them. They were talking about the Government providing such a litmus test. Never in their wildest dreams did they mean we shouldn't vote for a person who would represent us and our beliefs.

It's because of this obscene notion that our country is falling apart at the very seems.

Let me run this one by you...God doesn't care if America falls apart when America turned it's back on him. We took him out of schools, we took him out of politics, we took his commandments off our courthouse grounds.

God doesn't care about America and we will all pay an obscene but justly deserved punishment soon enough. He is rocking our very foundations. Banks are on the verge of collapse, unemployment is rising, houses are falling in value, the stock market has lost almost 10% of its value since the beginning of this year just a few days ago.

We clamor for revival but we can't even support one of our own. Mike's right...half of us turn our backs on him and pick secular choices. Why? Money? Power?

Romney single handedly pushed through Gay marriage even though the courts had NO jurisdiction. He couldn't/wouldn't stand up to the courts in Messy and some percentage of us are going to stand with him? He supported abortion. He supported Gay marriage. His state pays for abortions and signs marriage licenses. Go Mitt.

But look, 95% of Mormans voted for him in Nevada. I assure you that they aren't going to turn their back on their man. He's one of them. We don't.

Picking a candidate is about taking sides and you want to take sides with someone who doesn't share your beliefs. "Well, they at least respect my beliefs..." NO NO NO. If you have a choice of three fruits one of them bad, one of them a little less bad, and one of them good...don't eat the little less bad one. Come on.

I think he was abandoned. Shame on you people who call yourself Christian and wouldn't stand with a true brother. Shame on you.

"Well he had most of us"....he had a majority...he should have had us all and that shame is shared by us all.

May God have mercy on us. I pray he forgives us and we don't lose all of our clout with the GOP...because if we do this country has NO REDEEMING qualities left before God. It's already a culture of greed, gluttuny, selfishness, lust, envy, pride, and sloth. That's right. That's what we present to the world. That's what we are. Just turn on your TV and watch the most watched TV shows that we broadcast around the world. We slaughter our unborn babies because we just don't want them. Millions of them a year. We are a sick and diseased culture and the scary thing is...most other countries aren't any better.

Gods judgement falls first and hardest on the leaders though. We billed ourselves as the worlds only superpower...judgement waits in the wings.

Do you seriously think for even one second that God isn't going to judge us? When Rome fell it fell hard and fast. The same will be true for us if there is no repentance.

Frankly, Mike may not be running for Pastor in Chief but if we ever needed one, NOW IS THAT TIME.

I'm going to bed. I know I'm a sinner...I know I'm far from perfect...but I also know how dangerous these times are.

When I get to Heaven and God says to me "What are the fruits of your labor"...I want to be able to say "I helped my country turn a little bit closer to you by helping Mike Huckabee get elected." Not "Sorry...I have none."

AP reporter attacks Romney?

You be the judge here...but here is my opinion.

What I saw was a reporter that lost his cool. He simply couldn’t swallow the deception.

It really was an attempt at deception. He was trying to send out the message that he isn’t a stooge for lobbyists while taking a swipe at McCain.

Here’s the thing, they are all in bed with lobbyists to some degree.

I’m not sure what’s worse. A former lobbyist running a campaign or having a trusted friend as an adviser.

With out Glen would I have learned about the attempted deception? No. So I really appreciate him speaking up and getting Mitt to educate us on the art of skillful political semantics.

I mean, a senior adviser doesn’t run the campaign…they just get to talk with the candidate and help them form their opinions. Got it. Clearly Mitt doesn’t owe a senior adviser or other campaign volunteers anything. They are literally volunteering with no expectation of any kind of return on that time and effort.

Humm. Well that’s what Mitt wants us to believe.

I’m not buying it and Glen couldn’t either.

Thanks Glen!

Video: No Imitations

The latest video from Warrenpiece1. Romney is telling CNN:

"He may be conservative on social issues, but when it comes to economic issues like immigration, he's a liberal on immigration. He fought for tuition breaks for illegal aliens. He raised taxes time and time again as governor of Arkansas," Romney told CNN.
....
"I must admit that I find the vision and the direction that Ronald Reagan laid out for this country to be very powerful and very compelling," Romney said. "And I'll tell you, Ronald Reagan would have never raised taxes like Mike Huckabee did.
"Ronald Reagan would have never said let's give tuition breaks to illegals like Mike Huckabee did. Ronald Reagan would have never stood by and pushed for a budget that more than doubled during his term as president."

That sounds pretty bad. Does it play out though? Is it a fair statement? Put another way...is it spin or the truth. I'm calling it SPIN, damage control to stop his free fall. Now for the point by point and why it doesn't play out.

Gov. Romney claims Gov. Huckabee is liberal on illegals:

This is twice qualified as criticism of "tuition breaks" for illegal immigrants. Gov. Huckabee has fully responded to the charge already several times. Besides being a tired, tried, and failed excuse, it reveals something about Gov. Huckabee and conversely something critical about Gov. Romney.

Look at what we are really talking about. We are talking about kids. The children did not have a choice about coming here. They didn't really do anything wrong except to follow their parents. They grew up going to through the public school system and no one stopped them. They made it all the way to the doors of a college. Far exceeding what most of their parents achieved. They did all that under our noses without causing any harm. Graduates from the public schools. Seeking to still better themselves.

If then, they were found to be illegal AND chooses to pursue a LEGAL immigration process, the Governor supported them being treated as any other Arkansas student.

That's what Gov. Romney is calling "liberal". I think the problem is Gov. Romney is confusing "liberal" with "compassionate". So here is where the rubber hits the road. The test of a true leader.

Gov. Romney would have us believe that the right answer for such a student is to send them back to whatever country they came from because they are after all...illegal. Forget the fact that they are completely integrated into our society having grown up here and been educated here. Forget the fact that they really are willing to do the right thing and become part of our society. No, Gov. Romney wants to kick them out and send them to a country that they DO NOT KNOW...because they aren't citizens. How cold and cruel, Gov. Romney. Really.

Perhaps Gov. Romney can be ok with that because he grew up wealthy and has never been poor or had to struggle to make it on his own. I'm not sure.

Gov. Huckabee, however, grew up poor. Knows the struggles of the vast majority of your average Americans. He understands that sometimes it's really tough and he could put himself in the place of that child. That child that grew up an American but wasn't and he had compassion on them.

Now some people can call that being weak but I call that character. Principle. That's EXACTLY the type of trait I would want from our President.

Now mind you, the situation is completely different for those people trying to come across our borders illegally. First of all, they know they are doing wrong. They are motivated by greed, often times and sometimes by desperation. While we can certainly feel for their struggle, but, they are not ours, nor do their actions show that they want to be.

By all means we should look at our legal immigration process and determine if we need to fix something with it, but, that is the channel that those people trying to cross the borders should be taking, not breaking our laws to come here. I'm sorry but they are adults not children. They can follow the laws or not come here at all.

Gov. Huckabee supports tightening and properly funding our border security. He opposes all forms of amnesty for illegals. He wants to heavily fine those companies that hire illegals. In short, he is in fact tough on illegal immigration.

Perhaps even more interestingly, he promotes the fair tax which will tax illegal immigrants that are in the states just like every other citizen even though they won't see a dime of government social services.

Gov. Romney also claims that Gov. Huckabee raises taxes:

He claims that Gov. Huckabee "raised taxes time and time again". Again like with immigration, their is a grain of truth. There were some tax increases. There was some spending increase that he had control over. He admits it. You see, this is again a tired and tried attack. It goes along and is based on the taxhikemike and club for growth group. They were responded to by the campaigns lawyers for using verifiable false attacks. That letter gives most of the details of the allegations. Let's take a look:

Governor Huckabee has a consistent record as a fiscal conservative. While Governor, he doubled the state’s standard deduction and the child care tax credit. Some taxes he eliminated altogether, such as the marriage penalty and the capital gains tax on the sale of a home. He reduced the capital gains tax for both businesses and individuals. He indexed the income tax to protect people from paying higher taxes because of “bracket creep.” He left the state with almost $1 billion in surplus, setting the stage for further tax reductions. He cut welfare rolls by almost fifty percent, while balancing the state budget every year of his terms.
I see. So he did what should be done. Balanced the budget and built a surplus (which he has said he wanted to give back to the people). All while making the tax situation better for the average person. Wow. $1 billion (does mini-me pinky finger bite)

Ok, to be fair that's the upside. Some taxes were raised. The supreme court said he needed to fix the public school systems problems. That's a problem he inherited and to a large degree succeeded in doing but to do it they did have to reverse course on the tax reductions he was making.

They also had problems with roads, nursing homes, etc. Various taxes were raised to address the specific situations. I think that's fair. If the problem is nursing homes, the tax should be paid by those in the nursing homes. If the roads are the problem then take it from the people making the roads get run down (fuel tax). I mean, well duh.

Gov. Romney, seriously, is this the best you have?

Perhaps next, you will want to call a private party gift registry an "ethics violation"? I mean, seriously, are we going to give China state secrets for a blender that came from his wifes friends? Yeah, that would sway me.

Gov. Romney, what are you providing that's new and not - tired, tried, and calculated for your political gain?

Nothing. Thanks for playing. Try again in four years.

Huckaholic

Over Thanksgiving weekend I earned a new badge. I'm a Huck-a-holic.

My brother-in-law gave me the title after I spent an obsessive amount of time talking to everyone about Gov. Mike Huckabee.

It's true I did probably talk a bit too much about our future president but I did so with good reason. Mike Huckabee is the first candidate that I have felt passionate about in my life.

So maybe I do go on and on about how I believe Mike will impact the Washington political scene. Maybe I do drive the point home.

You know what though? At the end of the day I can tell you that I reached several dozen people this weekend and they now know about Mike and will either vote for him when they get the chance or at least take the time to seriously look into his platform.

So I'm proud of my new badge. I'm also proud to be an alternate delegate to represent Mike at the RNC when he wins the state of Illinois.

Go Team Huckabee! Whoooohoo!

Mike, music, and ethics violations?

I'm scouring you tube today for videos on Mike that I think are interesting.

Can you believe people said pardoning Kieth Richards from a speeding ticket was brought up as an ethical issue.

Come on.

Auctioning for Huckabee

Ladies and Gentlemen,

While I plan on contributing regularly to the campaign I am distinctly aware of the need to give all I can. To that end I am announcing my "Auctioning for Huckabee" personal donation engine.

Here is how this program works and what I need from you.

You:
Go to my Ebay store
Find something you like at regular store prices
Buy it

Alternate method:
Go to my website: http://www.learningdirectives.com/
Find things you want.
Email me: auctionsforhuck@spencer-family.org and let me know what you want and your ship to address.
If I have it in stock you will get a Paypal invoice from me along with a note saying how much will go to Gov. Huckabee.

My commitment:
I will list what remaining inventory I have from my store a few items most days
- I have been selling educational toys, games, and products
- My product line was purchased at wholesale prices. IE: Roughly 50% off MSRP
When an item sells and I have confirmed payment, I will donate to Mike through my Ranger account (which you can view on any page in my blog).
My donation will be 100% of the profit (profit is profit: IE: I need to cover my seller expenses, original product costs, shipping)

I will then ship your purchase to you and complete my end of the transaction.

You can rest assured that your purchase does contribute directly to Mike because you will be able to watch my Ranger accounts numbers go up. My rating on Ebay is 160 positive transactions with no negatives. 100%. I'm not going to risk a negative review after 10 years on Ebay.

Help me help Mike by participating in Auctioning for Huckabee.

You can also help advertise this fundraising by linking to this page using the following code:

Quick Faq:
Q: Who can do this?
A: Anyone in the US. You are not contributing to Mike. I will be. So even if you have maxed out your contribution, this would be a way for you to keep giving to him.
Q: Why are you not charging more than MSRP for the stuff you are selling?
A: I want everyone to get a "fair" price for what they are buying. This is a way to give Mike money but it's not a charity service. I will report the profit as income and will have to pay taxes on it.
Q: So this is a way for you to give without paying anything?
A: No, there is a fairly huge opportunity cost for me in that I have to use a bunch of time to write the listings, manage the program, etc. Plus I am giving 100% of the profit. I will be paying income tax and that will ultimately come out of my pocket.
Q: How can I know that the donations are being made?
A: Just watch my Ranger account numbers. They will go up by the amount that I tell you was made on the transaction when I confirm that your purchase has been shipped.
Q: Why are you doing this? It seems like a huge pain for such a little bit.
A: It is a pain but every little bit helps Mike and I sincerely want to help him.
Q: Why are you paying for an Ebay store?
A: It was costing $0.95/item to list them for 7 day fixed priced auctions. It costs much less to do store inventory listings and they last 30 days. Overall it looked like it would decrease my operating expenses and increase my ability to donate to Gov. Huckabee.
Q: How can I help you with this?
A: Even if you can't make a purchase send people to this web page by creating a link to it. If you want an Icon to use with the link use my "Auctions for Huckabee" icon.
Q: How much can you raise through this?
A: My goal is at least $500. With some luck (and lots of work) maybe we can max out our contributions.
Q: Why can't I just buy right from your website?
A: Couple of big reasons: 1. It's broken and 2. My stock is out of date
Q: I can find it for less from someone else. Will you price match?
A: Send me an email and ask me, include where you found it. If you can get it below my costs then there is no point in price matching, I would take a loss and would not be able to support Gov. Huckabee. If it is someplace between my cost and MSRP then I certainly will match it and will still be donating the profit!

Thanks so much helping me help Mike!

Sincerely,
Chris Spencer (Votingforhuck)
auctionsforhuck@spencer-family.org

Does Mitt really think this is funny?

I watched this video of a reporter asking Mitt Romney about the recent push polling scandal. The essence of the question is "Are you sure no one in your camp did it?"

Watch his facial expressions. He likes the question. He immediately starts smiling. His lips say the words "that's offensive" but his face says "I'm so glad".

He says he wouldn't benefit from such a polling attack. On the surface that seems true but if you knew about the polling being done and were able to promptly put an end to it with a massive news release condemning it...then it could seriously be beneficial.

That's what we see. Limited number of calls, almost immediate condemnation, and widespread media coverage. Mitt benefits from that media coverage.

So I watched him and I think he is either lying outright or at the very least loving all the media attention this incident has gained him. Not sure. Certainly though he isn't insulted by that question. He loves it. His face tells the story.

I also must note, he didn't really answer the question. It's an implied denial but he didn't actually say it.

In truth we actually agree on one point. I share his "hope" that NH does figure out who is behind this. I am sure I speak for all Americans when I say I would not support that campaign.

Ron Paul followers and their fake websites

I do hope that Ron Paul apologizes for his supporters use of fake websites to make fun of and insult both his "fellow" Republican candidates and their supporters.

It's a shame that they would even do that because it reflects so poorly on them and on Ron Paul. Sad really.

However, being up on conspiracy theories...here is what I think is going on:
- Given Ron Paul is a Libertarian in Republican clothing because he has already aptly demonstrated he can't compete nationally as a Republican.
- Ron Paul therefor has an organized campaign under the fake cover of the Republican party which is drawing heavy heavy support from his Libertarian organization (AKA: Money, supporters, etc)
- Ron Paul will lose (dramatically) the Republican nomination process but use the war chest to make a 3rd party run as a Libertarian as was planned from the start.

The hope was he would draw some Republicans to him under the Republican Trojan horse ticket and to a small extent that has probably worked. However, in the long term it will fail because it was a lie from the very beginning.

I'm outing it now.

Your followers are denigrating a large part of the Republican base because they aren't really even Republican. It was about putting an end to religious persecution.

None of us want that but when the interpretation is "Separation" instead of "No official religion" we get two totally different things.

This is part of the reason my children are being home educated. What is being taught to children in public school is at odds with what my wife and I believe to be true.

Mind you, we don't have issues with the educators really, but with the system as it is being developed by the courts on the false "Separation" doctrine.

A nice guy?

The New York times is on Mike's trail. You can't really trust a Clinton (no matter how much you might want to).

but with Mike...Mike. There is hope for this country that I had almost written off.

Everyone goes around writing things off as impossible...but then a glimmer of hope might appear.

Well, if you have a glimmer of hope and you fail to pursue it with all you can muster, then that hope will go away. Can you imagine a choice of Hillary or Rudy? Go liberal activism! Go away freedom of speech!

I'm not sure what is more frightening there. So I'm going to be writing for the man from Hope (AK) because he gives me that glimmer of hope.
